So after defeating Chelsea FC on Nov 29th I thought I would check into the LFC site; low and behold I find the error; these things do happen; it just seems I have a keen eye for spotting them!

Liverpool The City

Club

Club followers from Asia know as much about Liverpool FC as some of the best well-versed and most loyal fans in the UK. Clubs that regularly win high-profile trophies make more coverage, both at home and aboard, and command much higher prices. On July 30, 2004, the Liverpool City Council gave the club planning permission to build a new 60,000 seater stadium, nearby at Stanley Park. Many clubs have moved to new grounds in the last 10 years. Liverpool Football Club is the most successful club in the history of English football.

Football

Football has always been watched by all classes, this working class vibe is more attached to particular clubs than it is to the game as a whole. While the word Liverpool clearly denotes the city of Liverpool in the United Kingdom, and elsewhere, the name Liverpool FC is, in its ordinary signification, related exclusively with the Liverpool Football Club. I count myself very lucky to have been around during the wonderful years after promotion back into the 1st Division, proud to have wonderful memories of wonderful times, Bill Shankly, Joe Mercer, Don Revie and the players of the time and say good luck to the new world of scouse Football.

Anfield

Anfield itself is vastly different to what it looked like 2, 5 and 10 years ago not to mention 20, 50 or even 100 years ago. The highlight for many, however, is the chance to walk down the famous players tunnel and touch the famous This is Anfield sign. The Anfield atmosphere, history and fabric is all part of the club. The fact is that LFC is Anfield and Anfield is LFC. The club offers tours of its stadium, Anfield, which include a visit to the dressing rooms and a chair in the team dugouts.

European

European triumphs at the Stadio Olympico, Stad de Lutz and as recently as the Westfalenstadion are witness to what Liverpool Football Club is all about. The club was present at two of the prevalent tragedies in European football at Heysel in 1985 and Hillsborough in 1989. Liverpool made their first impact on the European circuit in 1973 with a UEFA Cup triumph, as well as winning another league title that season. In recent years, the city has emphasised its cultural attractions, winning the award of European City of Culture for 2008.

Let’s be straight, Roy Hodgson was never a Liverpool manager; the clowns (Christian Purslow being amongst them) that appointed him should hang their heads in shame for such a ridiculous appointment. It is interesting to read the anti-Liverpool sentiment on the web. It is even more interesting that other managers and non-LFC supporters think it is wrong that Roy got sacked. Well they would do, because facing a Roy Hodgson Liverpool team was no challenge, look at the recent Northampton, Wolves, Blackpool and Blackburn results as testament to that.

Let’s get things straight, Kenny Dalglish will not have a silver bullet and be able to turn Liverpool Football Club back into a top four club overnight, but at least Kenny knows how to play attacking football and not the defensive, turgid crap that Roy Hodgson was turning out week-in, week-out.

By the way, don’t feel too sorry for Roy, he’s got a very nice payout. How does that work, making England’s most successful club relegation fodder and getting a multi-million payout? Surely this compensation for failure withing football has to stop, it’s ridiculous.

Kenny says he has unfinished business; let’s just hope for the sake of all Liverpool supporters that he can stop the ship from sinking.

I do not think there is a single Liverpool supporter would shed a tear if either Tom Hicks or George Gillett got run over by a bus today, here’s hoping there is a god, because these disgraceful, opportunist, blood sucking duo, need to realise there is no place for them on Merseyside, in England or in Football – they should just go.

In fact if you are that bothered Lionel, then I suggest you go to the bosses at Barcelona and tell them to put their hands in their very deep pockets and pull out some hard cash, because why in heaven’s name would Liverpool want to sell the Argentinian midget captain for £12m when his market value is £25m+?

I personally don’t get the whole family is unsettled bit. Javier Mascherano is probably earning in excess of £60k a week, who the hell could be unhappy with that sort of income? What are these morons on?

Football has lost its way big time. It’s full of big time Charlies and too many gob-happy corned beef Argentinians taking your’s and mine hard earned cash.

Our game is better off without the foreign mercenaries, taxi for the Mascherano family anyone?

I have no problem with Javier Mascherano wanting to go to Barcelona, it’s his right. I do though have a problem with the derisory amount of money that has been offered by Barcelona,and I hope to god the board of Liverpool FC do not accept £12m and put Mascherano with the reserves and let him rot until his contract runs out. It is high time these jumped up priveleged individuals were bought crashing down to earth.

Unfortunately all the time people keep subscribing to Sky Sports and the like, players will continue to behave like spoiled 4 year olds.

Thankfully I stopped paying for Sky Sports a couple of years ago. I’d rather spend my money on something useful and not lining the pockets of petty footballers. If the facts coming out of Wastelands tonight, then Javier Mascherano, you really are a disgrace.

I have an open message for greedy footballers who feel they have a god-given right to jump ship just because they have not qualified for The Champions League – GROW-UP!

One would suspect the Gerrard/Torres flames are being fuelled by sensationalist headline grabbing journalists who need to sell newspapers. We all know what a mess the newspaper industry is in and football stories sell newspapers. You have to wonder how much worse things could be for newspaper journalists if The Barclays Premier League did not exist? After all there is only so much that can be written about Jordan, Peter Andre, Kerry Katona, Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell.

If there are any players at Liverpool who are already plotting their way out of the club this summer, I would like to remind them that playing for the Champions of Europe is not a god given right. It is only in recent times UEFA came up with the money-spinning format that is The Champions League. In days past, all footballers and football teams had to earn the right to play in the World’s elite football tournament by actually winning their league. Imagine that, having to win something before you gained a seat at the top table of European football.

Show some loyalty

We all have bad days at work, not everything can go your way all of the time. If the likes of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres were to leave Liverpool in the summer it would further weaken my love of the game of football. Yes, Liverpool have had a bad season, but whose fault is that? It’s not mine, nor is it the fault of any other Liverppol fan.

Ultimately, it is the players, they take to the pitch and they kick the round shaped object up and down and across the pitch. There are times this season when Steven Gerrard has looked uninterested in his football. Well as captain as Liverpool Football Club, that is simply not acceptable! Is it any wonder the team has not performed when the captain has a bigger sulk on then a three year old who is told he cannot have a toy.

To be a Champion you must be a Champion

Let’s not forget, it was only last season Liverpool threw away the opportunity of winning The Premier League. The idiotic rant of Rafa Benitez beggared belief, and sadly Liverpool imploded and handed the title to Manchester United. UEFA are not going to change the format of their Champions League cash cow. But Mr Gerrard and Mr Torres look at your predecessors, the likes of Kenny Dalglish, Emlyn Hughes, Tommy Smith, John Barnes, Ian Rush did not throw their toys out of the pram each time Liverpool did not win the league. (Yes in those days a team had to win the league to qualify for The European Cup).

So now it is time to shut-up and get on with it.Liverpool have been truly average this season. They do not deserve a Champions League place. The football played has been dire, but don’t leave the fans in the lurch. Ultimately if Liverpool Football Club have failed this season, it is because the players have not given their all.

Football fans deserve better

There is rife speculation from journalists and ex-players saying the likes of Gerrard and Torres deserve better. Quite frankly, its all crap. It is the fans who do not have the exuberant lifestyles of the super rich footballers who deserve better.

For many football is escapism, it offers us a vehicle to a different world where we can forget all about the real world for 90 minutes.

All football fans want the same thing – success! In fact football fans crave it, it gives us all something to look forward to outside of 9-5 world in which many of us live.

The common man typically only gets 4 weeks holiday a year. The common man has to scrimp and save to make ends meat to feed his family and to keep them clothed, warm and dry. The common man spends an absolute fortune going to watch his team on a match day. The common man is raped by football clubs who charge over the top for drinks, burgers and the like, and why? To keep footballers accustomed to a life of luxury. If any of the big players do leave Liverpool Football Club this coming season, I wish them nothing but bad luck.

Before you make your decision to move on because you are not in The Champions League, think about what the rest of us have to put up with.
