I’m looking forward to seeing how the TLH team now move forward with the blog.

Note to Julia: I had another Bingo win whilst the eyes were down in The Starlight Lounge in The Derwent Hotel. (I must remember to buy a lottery ticket the next time I am in Torquay, as I certainly appear to be lucky when I am done in this neck of the woods.)

I felt like an Emporer of true power today. I was up at the HQ of Tropical Sky in East Grinstead for a catch-up meeting.

Unfortunately on arrival we were informed the lift was out of order! Not a problem, I managed to grab me a couple of willing volunteers to assist a delicate man in a wheelchair, read on…

When a lift is broken, there are two options:

Bugger off again

Find muscle

On this ocassion I went for option 2, because in fairness there was not much point in heading back.

So there I was hoisted up the stairs, wheelchair and all to the first floor by two willing volunteers which I nabbed, who happened to be the big cheeses of Fresh Egg and Tropical Sky, yes the company MD’s of both companies had to take the strain and lift my trim 10½ stone frame up the stairs.

You have to look at these things positively – For Mike and Adam it gave them an opportunity outside of gym time to exercise. For me it took me back to a prior life when I was an all powerful Chinese Emperor being carted about everywhere.

All I can say is thank goodness I didn’t say anything out of turn during the meeting, as I may have found my descent a lot quicker and a trifle more painful!

I have to admit I am oblivious to a lot of things, not because I don’t care, but simply because life is such a rush. Working with James Caan means there is always a lot to do at Fresh Egg, and then family life fills any time that is left. To say that I am oblivious to things is an understatement!

I have been sitting on a sponsorship form for my daughter for the last few weeks for Cancer Research ‘Race for Life’ following taking it to work to gain the support of a few of my colleagues. (Thanks to all that sponsored MM)

Hands up, I had no idea what a big event ‘Race for Life’ was. The last time I did a sponsored walk, I was 15 and I could still walk! (Long are the days since). It was only as I was driving my daughter and my partner to Worthing Rugby Club for the event that I saw for myself the size of the event and what it meant/means to the many people that took part.

I have to say it was quite touching to see the many participants with the names of cancer victims on their backs who they were running/walking for, or in the memory of, unfortunately there were way too many.

Too many people are affected by this terrible disesase and I hope that every single penny that was raised today will do some good in the constant battle to find the cure that will save lives.

Congratulations go to my two for completing the race, I hope your efforts go on to help the many people who will encounter this terrible disease whether it be personally or through association at some stage in their lives.

Race for Life really is a worthy cause – to find out more visit http://www.raceforlife.org/

Fate – do you believe in it? You have to say when you look back at events, you do wonder if the path is already paved for your journey. For the record I don’t follow horse racing, I typically only watch it when in the company of my Father in Law.

But today, I did follow some horse racing at Royal Ascot – and now I am £100 better off because of fate; let me elaborate on my journey of riches, because I should have been at a party watching my youngest bounce himself silly!

Here’s why fate and lady luck went my way today!

1: Children are off out doing their own thing

2: I was supposed to be at a party with one of my little ones until his Mum stepped in

3: As soon as Mum and son were out of the car I put TalkSport on and heard Rupert Bell talking about the 15:05 at Royal Ascot (this planted the seed in my mind)

4: Arrived at Fresh Egg Towers for a quick catch-up

5: Turned on TV, which happened to be on BBC1 which was showing Royal Ascot and heard ex-jockey Willie Carson tip Campanologist (9/4)

6: Tapped Ladbrokes.co.uk into Firefox, and somehow remembered my account login (Honestly, I don’t gamble that often)

7: Deposited £10 into my account

6: Went to put the £10 on Campanologist and saw that I would get only £34 from my stake money

7: Looked at the horse above on the screen (Bronze Cannon) and saw it had better odds at 9/1

8: Changed my bet, and then placed my bet on Bronze Cannon

9: Turn volume down on TV as I thought I was going to lose £10

10: Watched race (with no sound) – Which Campanologist led for most of it

11: Watched in wonder as Bronze Cannon sprinted the last part of the race like he had a rocket up his backside and snatched it at the line

12: Very happy with taking odds at 9/1 – Thank you Ladbrokes

13: Now going to spend the winnings which has already been transferred into my account!
