Have a look at the following video clip from the founder of the company Ed Robinson.

I had to laugh when I went on to the Toys R Us site tonight.

For those who saw me in London on September 4th last year, you will know that I have no love for Toys R Us. The stores are scruffy, the staff seem uninterested and there is no real service.

So I have to ask why would anyone want to become a fan of Geoffrey (Toys R Us). Personally, I would rather become a fan of ‘Get rid of Geoffrey for good’.

Sorry Toy’s R Us – you are not getting my vote for a dopy looking Giraffe.

The skint UK Government is after more of our money, this time in the form of ‘Broadband Tax’ to fund high-speed internet connections.

I would like to know why people who might not have the slightest interest in the Internet (Yes, there are some about you know) will be expected to pay 50p for their land-line phone connection.

This lovely new tax will bring £175 m per annum to the Treasury as the Government looks to give us all high-speed Internet. I need to know what is classed as high speed? After all I have a 20MB line at home which will soon be upgraded to a 50MB line – how much bandwidth can a man want? If you want fast Internet move to a major town or city, but don’t expect the masses to pay for it!

The tax is wrong, telephones and broadband and two different services. It should be up to the BT to lay the cable, after all they will make millions in charges anyway.

The day I get an extra 50p on my land-line is the day that it gets disconnected and it’s not the money, it’s the principle. We all get charged enough by HM Government, this is just an excuse to collect more tax.

Broadband tax is wrong.

I was watching the news with enhanced interest on Friday night when the story on Pirate Bay came on. I know a great many people who download films and music from file sharing sites. Many people think this is a god-given right of being connected to the Internet. Well it’s not, it is nothing more than theft, and every time you download a film or music from a file-sharing site you are potentially placing another nail in the coffin of film-makers and musicians.

Hey don’t get me wrong, it is hard to comprehend the mega money that film stars and top pop acts make, but they are just two small sectors of very intricate businesses, they are the public ambassadors if you like. Is it right the likes of Nicole Kidman, Jim Carey, Bruce Willis, Madonna, U2 etc make millions of pounds? Maybe not…

It’s not just about the major celebs who pick-up all the plaudits; there are hundreds of people who contribute to the making of a film, or of an album or music track. The big celebs will always be paid the big bucks; it is the people behind the scenes who will lose their jobs as a result of continued abuse of copyright theft.

Personally speaking, I would rather not watch a film if I knew it to be downloaded shared content. Hey, I might be old-fashioned but I would rather an envelope turn up from Play.com or Amazon any day of the week then skank something for free.

The two creators of Pirate Bay are facing jail-terms and rightly so; they knew what they were doing was illegal. The only trouble is, this is a hollow victory – all that will happen is more file-sharing sites and people will switch to these sites to download their illegal content.
