Those that know me but do not know much about what I do you may think the headline is a bit sensationalist. For those people who are involved in SEO and Internet Marketing you will have a very good idea of what I am talking about. The Google Panda update is hitting sites across the web sphere. One of the major casualties in the UK roll-out of Panda has been ReviewCentre.com.

One of the ReviewCentre.com team has written about how the update is affecting traffic streams which in turn will be affecting revenues >> Review Centre Panda Response.

Google updates happen very regularly. Yet every so often there are more seismic updates that send larger ripples of concern to sites owners across the globe. Simply put when Google changes the rules, there are are going to bee winners and losers. On this occasion there are some notable names that have been hit by Google’s desire to cleanse their search results even further.

For those of you that think Florida is a great place to take the kids on holiday, it was a word synonymous with disaster for many affiliates, SEO’s and site managers. Google is still the ‘King Pin’ of delivering traffic to a site. Are you in its favour then you will see visits which will equate to possible business. If you fall foul of Google’s constant tweaking then you can see traffic and business enquiries dry-up as quickly as a pond in a desert.

I personally cannot stand Valentines Day; it makes my stomach churn. So hear are my top 5 reasons why I do not do Valentines Day!

I’d rather have trees in the world rather than get some meaningless card

Florists rip people off (Prices go up for the 14th, then suddenly come down quickly there after)

It’s a marketing ploy, nothing more, nothing less – Christmas has gone, and shops need a boost, and it comes in the form of Valentines Day

Going to a restaurant seeing ‘loved-up’ couples not knowing what to say to each other – embarrassing/priceless!

Not knowing who sent the hundreds of cards I receive each year are from! What’s the point?

Yes, you can call me a grumpy old git, but seriously, if you are taken in by this load of old claptrap then you have a screw loose; thanks, but I would rather be miserable than take part in a mass marketing campaign – long live romance!

The catch is your website has to to be non-profit. You can submit your non-profit site for review by the Google team here.

Website Clinic: Call for submissions

Perhaps it would be nice for the search quality team to spend some time quashing the power of sites that sell links instead, instead of trying to make friends all of the time.

Can MSN get anything right? In a naff attempt to create engaging content for users of IE (who otherwise have no idea how to change settings) via their portal landing page, the content writers have a review on British Seaside Resorts. I do urge the writer of the article (one Holly Morrison), to perform her research just a little bit better.

Holly, can you do your research properly please. You are showing the pictures of The Birdman Rally. Bognor do not hold the Birdman Rally anymore, it is held in neighboring Worthing, (see Worthing Birdman).

Original Image Flickr © Graham Ratcher

Do you fancy making a complete arse of yourself? Why not come and make this years Birdman Rally in Worthing even better – sign-up today! I wonder if there are any takers at Fresh Egg?

Oh,and before anyone says anything, I only use IE8 for Logmein.com access as it offers me the most stability when using the platform.

Chat Roulette – Long story short

Got a webcam? then talk to strangers! But get this, you could end-up talking to someone as interesting as Katy Perry (WOW!) Personally I would rather lock myself in a room for six months, but hey everyone to their own.

I did have a quick go on Chat Roulette yesterday morning, this is definitely not for me, but I could see why some would get into it.

Have a look at Tim’s Chat Roulette post over at Fresh Egg central and see if you are motre sociable than myself at ChatRoulette.com

There is a great post by John Andrews where the he is reading between the lines of Google rhetoric.

Many would agree that Google are on a crusade to take ownership of the Internet, so I am going to throw my two pennies worth into the thought process. In any other form of business, if you gain too much market share are you not subject to fair competition guidelines? Is it not now the case with such domination of online search that the authorities may look at ways of quenching Google’s domination?

Google may be your friend today, but will it be tomorrow?

John writes a great post and for me has opened up some further debate on the issue.
