Google updates happen very regularly. Yet every so often there are more seismic updates that send larger ripples of concern to sites owners across the globe. Simply put when Google changes the rules, there are are going to bee winners and losers. On this occasion there are some notable names that have been hit by Google’s desire to cleanse their search results even further.

For those of you that think Florida is a great place to take the kids on holiday, it was a word synonymous with disaster for many affiliates, SEO’s and site managers. Google is still the ‘King Pin’ of delivering traffic to a site. Are you in its favour then you will see visits which will equate to possible business. If you fall foul of Google’s constant tweaking then you can see traffic and business enquiries dry-up as quickly as a pond in a desert.

1. I’d rather have trees in the world rather than get some meaningless card
2. Florists rip people off (Prices go up for the 14th, then suddenly come down quickly there after)
3. It’s a marketing ploy, nothing more, nothing less – Christmas has gone, and shops need a boost, and it comes in the form of Valentines Day
4. Going to a restaurant seeing ‘loved-up’ couples not knowing what to say to each other – embarrassing/priceless!
5. Not knowing who sent the hundreds of cards I receive each year are from! What’s the point?

Yes, you can call me a grumpy old git, but seriously, if you are taken in by this load of old claptrap then you have a screw loose; thanks, but I would rather be miserable than take part in a mass marketing campaign – long live romance!

Perhaps it would be nice for the search quality team to spend some time quashing the power of sites that sell links instead, instead of trying to make friends all of the time.

Chat Roulette – Long story short

Got a webcam? then talk to strangers! But get this, you could end-up talking to someone as interesting as Katy Perry (WOW!) Personally I would rather lock myself in a room for six months, but hey everyone to their own.

Many would agree that Google are on a crusade to take ownership of the Internet, so I am going to throw my two pennies worth into the thought process. In any other form of business, if you gain too much market share are you not subject to fair competition guidelines? Is it not now the case with such domination of online search that the authorities may look at ways of quenching Google’s domination?

Google may be your friend today, but will it be tomorrow?
